Russ West, Class of 1982

Pat Malcolm, Class of 1989

  • Earned 6 Varsity letters, 4 in Soccer and 2 in Football
  • Pat was a 4 year starter, the leading scorer for 3 consecutive Soccer seasons and led the 1987 team to a State Runner-Up title

    • Helped lead the Hornets Baseball Team to a 21-8 record and Region 6 AAAA runner-up in State Playoff appearance; As a Starting Pitcher was 6-1 with 1.00 ERA. In 56 innings allowed 42 hits, 63 strikeouts, and only 10 walks; As a Short Stop/Second Baseman was second in batting average (.359), second in hits (33), first in runs scored (31) and second in RBI (21); In a game for the battle for first place, pitched 11 scoreless innings against region rival Walton High School (regulation game is 7 innings)
    • Atlanta Braves 400 Club All-Star Team Recipient; Metro Atlanta Dugout Club Player of the Week (Week ending April 1, 1989); AJC North Fulton Player of The Year 1989 (shared with twin brother Brad); Named to Roswell Neighbor All-Star Team; Honorable Mention to Metro-Atlanta Dugout Club All-Star Team (could not play due to injury); MVP of Team; Team Captain

In 48 innings allowed 41 hits, 36 strikeouts and only 12 walks; Combined pitching record with twin brother Bruce (11-1, 15 ERA)

Chad Kessler – Class of 1984

  • Chad Kessler attended Roswell High School for 1 Year lettering in Basketball.
  • He averaged 25 points  and 12 rebounds per game, while shooting an impressive 64% from the field. He excelled despite blood poisoning, an infected foot, infected wisdom teeth and a nagging pulled groin muscle.
  • He set a Roswell High School single game scoring record with a 44 point game vs. Riverdale high School.
  • He was selected to the North Fulton County All Star Team and was also selected All State Honorable Mention.
  • College Career
    • Chad accepted a Scholarship to the University of Georgia, where he played for Hall of Fame Coach, Hugh Durham. He helped his team reach the post season in each of his 4 seasons, twice to the NIT and twice to the NCAA tournament.
    • As a Senior he averaged 12 Points per game and led the in Rebounding and FG percentage. He was named 2nd Team Academic All American and became the 1st SEC Men’s Basketball Player in a decade to earn a Prestigious NCAA Post Graduate Scholarship.
  • After UGA, Chad was drafted by the LA Clippers in the Fifth Round of the 1987 NBA Draft.  He later received a Special Citation from the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame, He was presented with The University of Georgia President’s Award, and in 2018 he was selected as the “Bulldogs Legend” at the SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament.
  • After Basketball, Chad received his Medical Degree From the Medical College of Georgia, where he also completed his general Surgery Internship and Orthopedic Residency.  Today, Chad and his family reside in Newnan Georgia, where he is on staff at Georgia Bone and Joint, in Newnan.
